No, Whoopi Goldberg is not in this movie. I've seen it more than 100 times and can assure you that I would have noticed her.
EDIT: It's possible that Rosalind Cash as John Emdall might be mistaken for Whoopi~though that would be very "iffy". I can't find a picture or ...

I'm torn between "Buckaroo Banzai" with Peter Weller, John Lithgow and Ellen Barkin, "A Boy and His Dog," which introduced a young actor named Don Johnson, and "Dark Star" by John Carpenter. I also enjoyed "Cherry 2000" and "Galaxina."
Gotta be Dr. Buckaroo Banzai and the rockin' Hong Kong Kavaliers!

I'm a big fan of the "cult" movie, The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai: Across the Eighth Dimension. Great cast, great script, fun movie, great action and special effects. Plus John Lithgow as the delightfully insane Lord John Whorfin. But what WAS that watermelon doing there?
