How can I clean drum cymbals beginning to corrode?

October 3rd, 2009 | by admin |

I recently had a gig at the beach and my cymbals were exposed to salty air. When I took them out to clean them a couple of days later, I saw that the cymbals had many marks they had never had, like a corrosive sign. I tried to clean them out with Buckaroo and they only polish. Is there anyway to remove those stains?

Chances are, no. Try walking into your local store and ask for some strong cymbal cleaner, but those kinds of marks usually stick, depending on the metal, more copper means easier to clean, more bronze means more permanent. You can probably find something that will lessen it, but that’s gonna stick for good unless you really luck out.
