They were actually slated to turn it into a Sci Fi channel show a few years back which got me excited. I love this movie, one of my favorites with Big Trouble In Little China (which also deserves a sequal). Buckaroo Banzai is just great, period. The story is silly and the acting is over the top, but Peter Weller’s "wherever you go there you are" tops anything else he has ever done. It doesn’t hurt that the movie takes place literally two seconds from me, so as they are talking about local towns I drive through them on a daily basis. This would have been a trilogy had it been made after ‘95.

Hell yeah I was disappointed. That was such a wonderful show, just for the 80’s cheesiness. Since Rawhide got killed it wouldn’t be as fun.

I sure hope Hollywood does plan on "improving it" with a remake.

I will say this… There’s new adventures and comic book form according to Wikipedia…

I’ll bet Hanoi Xian and the World Crime League are in back of it all. Dr Banzai, meanwhile, remains hard at work, not only at the Banzai Institute (check out the website), but around the world, fighting evil, righting wrongs and playing some of the best rock and roll in the galaxy!

I was disappointed back in ‘85. But, "Big Trouble In Little China" was based on the script for the Buckaroo Banzai sequel, I believe. I’ll have to research it. It could be on either the special features of either of the 2 DVD’s, or it was on that ’80’s movie website. (Or it could have been somewhere else).

What a great cast they had in that movie…. I wish I could locate the soundtrack on CD or something.

It seems that the rumour has been dispelled. Big Trouble In Little China was not the re-tooled script for the Buckaroo sequel. (Guess I should check that site more often)
