Cowpokes young and old will enjoy Patience Moore's countrified ditties
on this 2 CD set,one dedicated to boogie-woogie and western swing,
the other to acoustic lullabies. The tranquil “Time Flies”
may help speed up the minutes between bedtime and lights-out.
-PARENTING Magazine February
2005 “Pick of the Month”
As artists like They Might Be Giants and Dan Zane of The Del Fuegos
have proven, children's music needn't be the domain of purple dinosaurs
and other cloying creatures, nor does it require dreadfully inane
melodies that grate on parents' nerves. This Nashville singer-songwriter,
a.k.a. The Cowboy Girl, enters the playpen with her double CD Buckaroos
Sleep Too! The first disc, "Playtime," favors percolating
honky-tonk and Western swing, and "Quiettime" focuses on
soothing arrangements and campfire fare. Moore has a lovely voice
that's sure to comfort the kids, but the A-list players, including
Moore's husband Van Manakas on guitars and mandolin, put plenty of
fire in the tracks and should keep adults entertained. Ranger Doug
from Riders in the Sky joins Moore for two duets, including the bouncy
title track, which manages to make getting ready for bed sound like
fun.
JACK SILVERMAN- Nashville Scene May 2004
Patience Moore (aka The Cowboy Girl) has had two beautiful children
with her string wizard and co-producer husband Van Manakas since
we reviewed her scintillating and lauded debut. That's how these
things happen, artists move into a new sphere of attention, and
voila! A brilliant kid's record is the result, with two full discs,
"playtime" and "quiet time." An impressive list
of Nashville heavyweights appear, masterfully supporting the lovely
voice of the Cowboy Girl. Ranger Doug from Riders in the Sky does
some toneful yodeling in duets with the artist, we sure liked "That's
How A Cowboy Says his Goodnights." Buckaroos Sleep Too is a
country and western swing-laced jewel of a double album. I wish
more music for grownups sounded this good! We endorse it highly

"Kids and parents will love this precious CD set. The
first of the pair is perfect for playtime with its full band, including
a fiddle, bass and drums. These toe-tapping songs are sure
to make any kid laugh. For quiet time, Moore provides parents
with a sure bet for putting your child to sleep; the soothing sounds
of the cello and mandolin. Whether it's play or quiet time,
the Cowboy Girl is sure to be a hit!

PRAISE FOR BUCKAROOS SLEEP TOO!
My kids adore your CD. They have learned a lot of
the lyrics, and their yodeling is getting better all the time.
They love to hear the Quiettime CD when they go to bed
(they have bunk beds in a shared room.) It's really terrific.
-Kristi Holt, Nashville,
TN, mother of two.
Buckaroos Sleep too! rocks. Patience Moore has created
wonderful songs with such strong stories, melodies and characters
that it one can imagine this recording becoming a wonderful
musical as well. While the kids obviously love the fun, adults are
sure to appreciate the wonderful musicianship and arrangements.
-James Lapine- Broadway Theater Director ( Sunday in the Park
with George,etc.)
Every once in a blue moon, something comes across my turntable
that really fresh and exciting. Patience Moore has hit a home run
with this great new Western Swing and Cowboy music CD for kids called
“Buckaroos Sleep Too!. The songs are well written, the production
is top notch, and the voice of Patience Moore is the icing on the
cake! I would recommend adding this CD to your library. It’s
destined to be a classic!

it's really good listening - even if you're not a kid!
-Estelle Bonner, nyc,
no kids!
She will not let me take this record off!!!!! any song with
“banana” in it is a big hit, also she tells us about
honky tonk kitty, so I’d say that was a hit too!! she
bops and dances to it. We’ve never had this reaction
to a kids record from her before. I thik also that it came
specially in the mail for her was cool!!
-Amanda Kravat, NYC, recording artist and mother

Patience-The CD set arrived today and I just finished listening
to it. It is really super! I enjoyed it very much and will use almost
every one of the tunes on "Swingin' West." I will let all
my listeners, both here in Connecticut on FM and world wide on the
Internet stream enjoy your dynamite voice and super album set. I
am sure that before long at least one of the tunes will start to
chart with my listeners I especially enjoyed the mix of your original
material with some of those oldies that have not been sung and played
to death. A very nice mix! Also, you had so many of my favorite
pickers starting of course with Van and then John, Tommy, etc.
WOW! A class production! The album title tune that has "hit"
written all over it.
“I couldn’t
resist dancing and singing along with the original songs on this CD
set. Little buckaroos who love music, humor, and fun will kick up
their heels, too.” -
Edith Kunhardt - Children’s Book Author of 67 books
including best sellers, “Pat the Cat” and “Pat the
Puppy”
"Quality,
quality, quality.... These are the three best words to describe "Buckaroos
Sleep Too!" I look forward to seeing this project in next years
Grammy nominations."
- Johnny Rosen - producer
( David Bowie, etc.)
“What a fun CD set! I love the beautiful ballads on the “Quietime”
CD. These should send children to sleep with a smile on their faces
and provide a great evening ahead for Mom and Dad."
- Jamie Broza - 3 time
Emmy Award winner and parent of three very awake children
“Rarely does a CD radiate ‘labor of love’ so profoundly
as The Cowboy Girl’s latest, Buckaroos Sleep Too!. It's fun,
listenable, incredible playing by Van Manakas and his posse, and I
know that kids will love it. Best of all, so will the parents!” -
Peter Dergee - PBS Tahra*Time Creator and Producer
“The new CD by Patience Moore (aka The Cowboy Girl) is
a delight in true western tradition. I wish I'd had something like
it when my kids were small. I have to say that I know mother would
have loved it. She would be proud of this work by Patience.”
- Beverly Losey - Daughter
of Western Swing Legend Patsy Montana, Mother of two
“Rest time in the 4-5's and 5-6's just hasn't been the same
since our CDs arrived! We're having a blast.” -
Michele Sola - Headmaster, Manhattan Country School, New
York City
""Buckaroos Sleep Too" is a wonderful and very entertaining
two CD set, done with children in mind but proves to be entertainment
for everyone. I will be using almost every tune in the set on my "Swingin'
West" radio show heard in Connecticut on FM and world wide on
the Internet.
The Cowboy Girl (Patience Moore) is loaded with talent. Patience has
a dynamite voice and proves that she can swing a song with style or
croon a lullaby with class and can yodel too. In addition to her compositions-
great examples of her songwriting talent-there are some really swinging
standards that can be enjoyed, especially since these songs are not
overdone, they have not been revisited in years.Another high spot
of the set is Ranger Doug Green on two tunes including the album title
tune that has "hit" written all over it. WOW! What a class
production."
- Mike Gross - WVOF-FM
& www.swinginwest.com,
inductee of the Western Swing Hall of Fame
“I love the new CD, my seven year old loves it and so does my
fourteen year old. I am not surprised at how good it is considering
the talent behind it, but it was an unexpected treat in this style
and format. I am once again inspired by one of my favorite cowgirl
singers – The Cowboy Girl.”
- Michael Montana - Grandson
of Western Swing Legend Patsy Montana,Father of two
“When I put the first CD on and a child's wonderful, trilling
laughter filled the room -- Heaven! All the material is great; not
a clunker in the bunch. From the swingin', foot-taping Honky Tonk
Kitty to the beautiful, heart-breaking (and heart-warming) Molly's
Song, The Cowboy Girl’s talents as a songwriter and producer
will blow your mind. And what a voice - from goofy and playful to
beautiful and haunting, and everything in between! As a mother of
two I have suffered through countless, unbearable hours in the car
listening to some horrible kids' CD that my children adore. It is
such a relief and a joy to have a children's CD where all the songs
are arranged with such sophistication and such high production values.
Now that I have Buckaroos Sleep Too!, I'm ready for a nice long car
trip.” - Nelsie Spencer
- Author of The Playgroup “So many kid’s
CDs are so dorky. Buckaroos Sleep Too! is the kind I can sing along
to and happily so. Sadie (2 1/2) has been singing Hamburger Hop all
afternoon. Emma (6 years old) loves Honky Tonk Kitty (we played it
5 times today). When we listened to Molly's Song, we both got tears
in our eyes. It is awesome!” -
Jess Kimbrough - Accountant and Mother of two
"What a perfect idea! to have two CDs, one slow and soft
for those times when we need to lull ourselves or our children to
sleep, and another that's upbeat and playful for wild times. I've
heard Patience Moore's other CD, and the songs she writes just keep
getting more and more imaginative -- heartfelt, haunting, and hip
all at once. My favorite? Too many to name, but I'm mighty glad that
the hound dog in Gudgie Wudger Boogie Woogie makes my feet move just
as much as Honky Tonk Kitty! I feel like I'm getting a big hug when
I listen to The Cowboy Girl's Quiet Time songs. The lyrics, melodies,
and her clear, soulful voice combine seamlessly. Midnight on the Meadow
makes my heart cry and love all at once. BUCKAROOS SLEEP TOO is a
keeper!" - M.D. Poole
- NY writer, actress, and owner of Private Drawers Lingerie Shop
“Buckaroos Sleep Too! is a rollicking, rhythm-filled ride
on the musical hooves of childhood dreams, lullabies and....”
- Christy Hannum - Filmmaker
“Keeping Sound” “I listened to Buckaroos
Sleep Too! on a long drive and thought it was funny, witty, melodic,
evocative - and a ton of fun. The Cowboy Girl is a great singer. I
LOVE THE CD!!!" - Mark
Tashjian - Headmaster, Collegiate School For Boys (middle
school), New York City “I really don't want
to gush but we are LOVING Buckaroos Sleep Too!! It's just fantastic.
Maeve (2-1/2 years old) just wants to listen to it constantly and
she asks lots of wonderful questions. This delightful CD has brought
our own little Cowboy Girls hours of sing-along entertainment!"
